Every work of visual art, whatever it is, starts with a sketch, with an ‘’esquisse’ as it sounds so nice in French. The sketch is the starting-point, the basis, the nucleus out of which the work of art will develop.

The sketch, pure and rough and yet nice in itself.; but above all, the essence, begging for development and completion. A first rough off-set, prickling the artist’s phantasy, a flame for the inspiration, a sober but clear basis on which he/she will build his/her work, probably the most individual expression of what stirs in him/her at a particular moment, the blueprint of what might become a work of art later on…
